Discover the north of the island differently, starting with a visit of Goodlands local market to meet the locals and experience life in a small village. Proceed to one of the oldest shipreplica-making factories before a glimpse at the colonial past of Mauritius with the wonderfully renovated Chateau de Labourdonnais. An exquisite lunch will be served at La Table du Chateau. After lunch, Pamplemousses botanical garden is a must, most of its rare plant species were brought in by the French Botanist Pierre Poivre in the XVII th century and it is the oldest Botanical Garden of the southern hemisphere. Once at Cap Malheureux, further on, there will be a short photo stop to capture the tiny red roofed church and listen to a short story of the British invasion of the island with their Armada kept behind Gunner’sPoint.

Starting from Curepipe, the second most important town of the island you may enjoy some shopping; jewelry, 17th – 18th century ship-models, cashmere wear and much more. From there you will be driven to Grand Bassin (the Ganga Talao), a sacred place of worship for the Hindu community, a photo stop at the Black River Gorges viewpoint is a must. Lunch will be served at Le Chamarel Panoramic restaurant, with a spectacular view on the Morne Brabant and the horizon. The last stop will be at Chamarel waterfalls and the 7 Coloured Earth Geopark, "7 Coloured Earth"of Chamarel is a very rare geological curiosity: bare earth dunes, of different colours (ochre, Brown, pink, orange, purple...).

Treat yourself to a unique excursion to discover the west coast of the island by sea. Your host Emmanuel will be delighted to talk about marine biodiversity and you might come across two types of Dolphins the bottle nosed Dolphin or the spinner Dolphins and sometimes whales (Humpback whale in winter (July - Sep/ Oct) & The Sperm whale which is very common on the west coast of Mauritius.) Back on land you will be driven to the Rhumerie de Chamarel, ideally located in a fertile valley of 35 hectares of sugarcane plantations. The Rhumerie produces high quality rum from the sugar canes harvested in the surroundings. There will be a tasting session of all agricultural rums kept in oak barrels, to age.

THE TEA ROUTE – “ZISTWAR DITHE” – Mauritius
Domaine des Aubineaux is a colonial house built in 1872. It has been converted into a museum dedicated to the history of the Mauritian Tea. Bois Chéri is the next stop of this Tea Route tour. The Bois Chéri factory is the first and largest tea producer in Mauritius, since 1892. Discover the history of tea while visiting the tea production museum. Nowadays Bois Chéri produces a wide variety of local flavored tea. You may taste them during your visit, while enjoying a great panoramic view of the beautiful south of the island. Enjoy lunch at an old colonial house - Le Domaine de Saint Aubin, built in 1919, followed by a visit at its Anthurium and Vanilla greenhouses - with a Rum tasting session thereafter.
